Nutrisystem Nation Blogger: Week 1 Update! #nsnation

Week 1 on the Nutrisystem program has come and gone and I am thrilled to share my thoughts with you. I definitely learned a lot the past seven days. The Women's 28-Day plan comes with both gourmet fresh-frozen foods as well as pantry ready. They arrived in two separate shipments and the pantry ready box also included the Starter Kit: a letter congratulating me on joining the program as well as welcoming me into their community; a resource guide; a women's meal planner (kind of like a food diary to help me keep track of what I'm eating); and a 32oz water bottle "instructing me" to fill it twice a day.

I took advantage of their website as a resource and read as much as I could on what I could eat with the Nutrisystem meals, how much I could eat, and acceptable substitutions. For example, I was overjoyed when I saw that I could drink 1/2 cup of 100% fruit juice instead of eating a piece of fruit. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE fruit!!! But knowing I have choices and the program is as flexible as it is makes me feel a little (actually a lot) more in control. Also, knowing I can have an "unlimited" amount of a certain vegetable while only 1/2 cup of another is extremely helpful. Last but not least, I love love love olive oil. So, I was a little disappointed (at first) to read I was only allowed one teaspoon of it as the "Fat" part of dinner.

As far as the Nutrisystem meals are concerned, I was sent the "favorites" for the fresh-frozen and I opted to customize the pantry ready foods. Of course, I selected items I "knew" I would like. The hard part: choosing which meal to eat. They all look so good!!! So far, I have been pleasantly surprised. The food is very tasty and I definitely have my favorites! I love the muffins and omelets for breakfast. The bars are perfect for lunch especially if I have to run errands with the kids and know I will be away from a microwave. The Chicken Tortilla soup for dinner is my favorite as well as the Glazed Chicken Tenders (fresh-frozen) meal. The Thin Mint Crisp bar and pretzels are my favorite dessert/snack options.

So, are you ready to hear/read how much I lost in one week? Drum roll please…4.6 pounds!!! YAY ME!!!
