Family Dollar Shopping Trip: Quality Products, Great Value!

I love to shop! The only thing I love more than shopping is getting a great deal. You wouldn't think it could get any better than that, but it does! What do I love even more? Knowing I've purchased great products at even better prices!

Before I got married and had kids, all of my shopping was paid for with credit cards. While I was six months pregnant with my oldest son, I got laid off from the mortgage company I worked for. I didn't push to look for another job outside of the home because I figured no one would hire a pregnant woman knowing she would go on maternity leave in a few months. One week after my son was born, my husband got laid off from his job. So, there we were, both of us unemployed and a newborn to feed.

From that moment on, I vowed to do things differently with my hard-earned money. No more frivolous spending and, instead of credit cards, I relied on sales, coupons, gift cards, and most of all, I shopped at stores that offered low prices everyday! Stores like Family Dollar which also have sales and take coupons!

On a recent shopping trip to Family Dollar, I was armed with a gift card sent to me by Mom Central Consulting. I was on a mission to show all of the great products you can buy at reasonable prices.

Exhibit A: This photo shows every single item I purchased during my visit to Family Dollar. Everything from cereal bars ($1.00 each box) and coffee creamer (only $1.85), to red garland and gifts for my kids. The character placemats were only $1.00 each! The character sets in the upper right were only $5.00 each. They include two plates, a tumbler, sports bottle, one spoon and one fork. These have been hidden from the kiddos to be opened on Christmas morning.

The garland was only $2.50 for each 25 ft package. This is a BIG DEAL to me! Last year, I bought three strands of red garland from a national drugstore while it was on sale. Not only did it not cover my whole Christmas tree, the quality was so poor I had to throw it all away when I took down the decorations. The garland I bought at Family Dollar is beautiful, thick, and I can tell it will last a very long time. The way it glistens against the white lights, I swear it looks like I have red rubies on my tree. Don't believe me? Here is more proof…

Exibit B: My beautiful Christmas tree! I only needed TWO of the four strands I bought. Compared to the three I purchased last year at the other store (and subsequently had to throw away), I'd say I did really well with this find at Family Dollar!

The only thing I purchased I honestly feel was pretty comparable to other store brands were the baby wipes. I think those are "expensive" no matter where you shop.

Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Family Dollar and received a gift card to facilitate my review and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
