Boost Your Budget: January Challenge, Week 1

Boost Your Budget Pantry Challenge

I am happy to announce my participation in the Boost Your Budget Pantry Challenge this year. Matter of Cents is co-hosting with Shopper Strategy as well as 20 other blogs. We have set some basic goals to try and spend as little as possible during the month of January while using as much of what we already have stocked in our pantries. We will post an update on our progress each week.

The month of January will be focused on creating meals with foods I already have on-hand in the pantry and freezer. I took some photos to show you my "inventory". If you've been reading my blog, you know I am part of the Nutrisystem Nation Blogger Program. So, the bulk of my meals come from them. I simply add in fresh produce and dairy items.

Most of the groceries I buy are for the kids', snacks for school, and a purchase to support their Market Day fundraiser. I will continue to do all of these this month, but in moderation. I typically split my shopping trips between two days each week: Wednesday & Sunday. During the month of January, I will plan them so I get what I need on one of those days. Not only will that cut down on the possible "impulse buys", but I will be saving on the gas to get to the store too!

Each week, we will also be giving away a $25 Coupon Clutch Gift Certificate to one participant. Either leave a link to a challenge post or a comment about your challenge goals to be entered to win! Won’t you join us?

  1. Wow!  I am so impressed with your pantry, freezer, and fridge organization.  So your kids have a market day fundraiser?  Does that mean they grow and sell their own produce?
