Want to Know Wednesday: Matter of Cents

I am so excited to be launching this new, feature! Each week, I will shine the spotlight on a business or blog! It will cover the basic 5 W's and 1 H!

Matter of Cents is starting the new year with several new readers, Facebook fans, and Twitter followers. So, I thought it might be a good idea to tell you a little bit about myself for those of you who might be curious. :)

WHO: My name is Adelina. I am a WAHM with three children ages 5, 4, and 3 years old. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. In addition to this blog, I have a site called Matter of Crafts. While it's not as active as this MOC blog, I am hoping to change that in 2012.

WHAT: I blog about product reviews, giveaways, rewards programs, events, blog hops, coupon/deals/sales, recipes, and more! One of my goals for 2012 is to increase what I offer my readers. I am always open to suggestions and would love for you to comment below if there is something specific you would like to see me cover.

WHEN: I stared Matter of Cents, the blog, on January 8, 2011 through Blogger and made the move to self-hosted WordPress in May. I am logged on my computer most of the day. I am addicted to the internet and especially social media. I spend the early part of the day networking with other bloggers, pitching sponsors for upcoming events, and brainstorming what I will be writing about later in the evening. I typically get most of my writing done after my kids go to bed.

WHERE: I live in a western suburb of Chicago, Illinois. I used to sit at the dining room table to write. However, in recent weeks, I found it very inspiring (not to mention very comfortable) to sit next to my kids on the couch while they read or watch a video.

WHY: I started this blog for three main reasons. The first was to gain experience as a writer so I could prepare myself to publish books. I've always wanted to be writer and felt this was the perfect way to start my career. The second reason was to take my Facebook fan page a step further. I was strictly posting deals and freebies there until my sister, Owner/Writer for the blogs Huff and Buff and Two Belles Fitness, encouraged me to start my own blog. The third and probably most important reason I started Matter of Cents was for my kids. Even before I had children, I knew I wanted to be a SAHM. When I was laid off from my job at a mortgage company, I was six months pregnant with my oldest son. Since then, I've tried anything and almost everything to earn an income from home. Be sure to read my post on Mystery Shopping: How I Started if you've ever thought about doing that as well.

HOW: In addition to Facebook and Twitter, I would love for people to connect with me on StumbleUpon, BlogFrog, and Pinterest.

  1. don't you love being able to sit on the couch next to your kids and work!  Love it!  I also love the idea of this new series.  I look forward to reading more.

  2. I think blogging has definitely improved my writing skills. I spent a lot of time freelancing for others with a specific voice that I kind of lost my own. Blogging definitely gave that back to me.
I love this new feature of yours, I'm looking forward to learning more about other bloggers.
