“Choices”, Book Two in The Guardian Trilogy: Review, Plus Giveaway Reminder!

Choices (The Guardian Trilogy)

Hearts break. Loved ones are lost. Life keeps moving. Olivia Martin’s afterlife was more dangerous and confusing than her life ever was. She thought she was ready to come back, to forget about Holden and to let go of the rage consuming her. Fulfilling her destiny as a guardian was all that mattered—the past could stay hidden in the crevices of her mind. However, when guardians are murdered and the evidence points towards jinn, she has to do something. To save anyone’s future, Olivia will have to confront the one person from her past she is terrified to see.

Holden waited for Olivia with the hope he would see her one more time. But when she didn’t return, he found salvation in darkness. The black and twisted road made it easier to forget what he lost than to live with the memory of what he had. An unexpected promotion shoves him into a world of intoxicating power and influence. Holden will have to choose between his new life and the woman he thought was gone forever. From the ashes of Secrets, Choices are born that will change everything.

Olivia made her decision to be a Guardian. This meant a future with Holden, a Jinni, would be impossible. That didn't stop her from thinking about him constantly and wondering if she made the right choice. It also hadn't severed the very real connection they have with one another…even when they are miles apart.

I absolutely loved this book. The second in the series, after Secrets, I could relate to Olivia's feelings of uncertainty and possible incompetency when it came to performing her new job. The resentment she still held towards Quintus and Holden, both of whom should have come to her rescue, but didn't. The edge-of-your-seat anticipation of not IF she would run into Holden, but WHEN and how it would all unfold. The discovery of a friendship betrayed and the beginning of a new one were well-written and continued to pique my curiosity.

Olivia and Holden finally came face-to-face and it was not only heartwarming, but heartbreaking at the same time. Then, Olivia was faced with an unexpected choice, one in which she instinctively acted on. Now, they are left with even bigger "Consequences" than anyone would have ever expected. Book Three in The Guardian Trilogy will hopefully be released later this year. I personally cannot wait!
