“Pin Me” Pinterest Hop: Last Venus Transit Until 2117

Follow Me on Pinterest

Welcome to the weekly Pinterest hop, co-hosted with Views from The Ville!

This week's "Pin Me" theme is Venus Transit. According to Wikipedia, "a transit of Venus across the Sun takes place when the planet Venus passes directly between the Sun and Earth, becoming visible against the solar disk."

The duration of a transit is usually hours and is similar to a solar eclipse. They occur every 243 years, with pairs of transits eight years apart. The previous pair of transits were in December 1874 and December 1882.

The last Venus Transit occurred in 2004 and lasted six hours.

During a transit, Venus can be seen from Earth as a small black disk moving across the face of the Sun.

After 2012, the next transits of Venus will be in December 2117 and December 2125.

Do you have a cute craft or tasty recipe to commemorate this astronomical phenomena? This is the only one I found (so far). Please link up if you discovered any others! I would love to see them.

When creating your own Pin Me! post, please include a link to both hosts' posts (here and here). If you'd also like to include our button, we would really appreciate it.

If you would like to participate by joining our linky, we'd love to have you. All that we ask is: Please follow both myself and Views From The 'Ville on Pinterest and spread the word about the hop. Please also consider following the person above you.
