I first heard about the Elf On The Shelf Christmas tradition a couple of years ago. I was immediately intrigued and thought having an Elf around to “watch” the kids and report back to Santa sounded fun. As much as I wanted one, I decided to wait until I could learn more about it and follow through on the process.
Watching the movie with my children last week definitely helped me to prepare.
Our Elf arrived today!
Please welcome “Cello”. My kids love music and chose to name their Elf after a musical instrument.
Gift set includes: A North Pole scout elf, a hard-bound children’s book and a keepsake box. I read the book to the kids as soon as they got home from school. They have absolutely fallen in love with Cello. So much so, my oldest son who is 7 1/2 already told me he doesn’t want him to leave. He asked me if he could write Santa a letter to make an exception and let Cello stay with us all year.
There is only one rule they must follow when it comes to Cello. Do not touch the Elf or he will lose his magic.
So, I let them touch the book instead.
I am really looking forward to an exciting three weeks. The kids will wake up each morning and try to find where Cello landed upon his return from the North Pole every night. Where he will be remains to be seen. No pun intended.
Does (or did) your family cherish the Elf On The Shelf Christmas tradition?
